Japanese dating tips before you start dating a Japanese girl!

Dating can be expensive at times but you must put in mind that it doesn't always need to be that pricey. Consider the food preferences of your date; ask her what foods she likes, and research on the different kinds of Japanese foods so that you have the idea on what to order during the date. When meeting your date, especially if it's the first meeting, be more polite and avoid drawing attention to yourself because Japanese culture emphasizes modesty and blending in. Be courteous and be gentlemen enough; always respect the ladies, and remember that your objective here is to impress your date not to disgust her in any way.

Other important skills you must work on are your table manners. You must be able to know those basic Japanese table manners before going out. Always remember that proper dating etiquette depends on the gender, age and cultural awareness of your date.

During the date, never ever talk about your personal issues such as ex-girlfriends, financial situations and so on; instead talk about social issues or things you both find interesting. During mealtime always remember to eat slowly and properly chew your food, do not overeat. A Japanese guide advises: Follow this basic Japanese etiquette at the table: say "itadakimasu" before you start eating and "gotchisosama deshita" when finished. "When eating from shared dishes, move some food from the shared plates onto your own with the opposite end of your chopsticks or with serving chopsticks that may be provided for that purpose" If you and your date are drinking alcohol, remember that in Japan it is good manners to pour your partner's drink and allow them to pour yours.
